My name is Ian. I act, I write, I observe the world. I try to tell truth about it, in whatever weird way makes sense to me.
The journey began in Louisville, Kentucky. It has led me to New York City. Performance is, and has always been, my most innate mode of expression. I have a passion, a fire that burns constantly, an engine that’s harder to turn off than it is to get running. That passion fuels many things, the utmost of which is, of course, my craft.
As a wee lad, I spent many a summer at local drama camps, learning the ins and outs of improv games and ultimately putting on a play. During the school year, if a play was to be done in class, I made sure to be the star, or at the very least, the fan favorite. Even then, I felt very at home on the stage. Here
Deciding to take it as seriously off the stage as I did on it, I studied theatre at the Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) in Louisville. The curriculum provided me the foundation of my acting knowledge. I learned the history of the craft and trained in many practices: Viewpoints, Laban, Meisner, dialects with IPA, Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, Neo-Futurism, and the Stanislavski system, of course. I explored playwriting and directing in class and in our annual New Works Festival. As senior Theatre major, I put my studies to use in Peter and the Starcatcher as the dreaded pirate Black Stache.
My training continued at a higher level when I attained my BFA in Acting at Ball State University. The many techniques and ideas taught there transformed me. The depth of focus on Stanlavski, Viewpoints, scene study, Linklater, the Alexander technique, devising, and my very favorite, Grotowski’s plastiques, are why I am the disciplined professional actor that I am today.
After receiving the degree in 2023, I opted to spend four weeks in Dublin, Ireland, at the Gaiety School of Acting, where we pored over the works of O’Casey, Synge, Yeats, Lady Gregory, Brian Friel, Marina Carr, Enda Walsh, Martin McDonagh, and the great Samuel Beckett.
Returning to Louisville in 2023, two years of work in the Louisville theatre scene allowed me to put my degree to use, particularly in Pandora Productions’ Monsters of the American Cinema, a dark yet charming two-hander about an unlikely father-son duo forced to tackle monsters of their own making, both in dream and in reality. I was also featured in Pandora’s The Inheritance and She Kills Monsters, as well as the Bunbury Theatre production of Sirens.
However, in June 0f 2025, I relocated to New York, where I have since continued to build my resume in short films, underground theatre, and severe studiousness. I currently work with Theatre 68, having recently acted and directed in their annual One-Act Play Festival, and I’m always sniffing out more opportunities to expand my experience and sharpen my skill.
Acting, writing, the creation of stories both live and filmed — this is my life. There is nothing so pleasurable or important to me. I want to make a change in the world around me, and I have no doubt that this is how I can do that. Through the confrontation of deep human truths and the reflection of our many experiences. Catharsis and revelation. Evolution and acceptance.
